UPVC Door & Window Repairs
Handle hard to lift up?
Door catching on bottom or topside?
Lock mechanism not working, not locking?
The main cause is the door not being toe and heeled properly.
Doors are extremely heavy and although they have heavy duty hinges on one side there is dead weight on the handle side which is not supported, so you must heel and toe to secure the sash, fitting plastic packers in a specific way to counter balance the stress preventing the sash from dropping.
Setting the Door Locking Compression
All door locks and sub frames must be aligned correctly and have the correct compression when the handle is lifted, enabling easy operation and preventing undue stress to lock mechanism.
Problems
if the lock mechanisms and keeps do not line up correctly, this causes stress on the spindle housing in the centre locking mechanism causing fatigue and ultimate failure flocks leaving the door jammed or not lockable. We replace all makes and models of door or window locking mechanisms and if your existing locks are discontinued, we can ALWAYS offer a conversion option thus reducing the need of full frame replacement.
